ore and more sailboat owners want under-
hull lights to illuminate the water when they
are in a roadstead. This idea has been borrowed
from the world of motor yachts. When you are at
anchor overnight, the under-hull lights attract a
multitude of fish and marine animals which cre-
ate a small private aquarium for you to admire.
Aqualuma has developed a recessed lamp
which can be inserted into the hull via a thru-
hull, as if it were the transducer of an echo
sounder. The light is suitable for boats ranging
from 6 to 13 metres and is available in ultra
blue and brilliant white.

the 4G network to your boat. Composed of a
transceiver and an antenna, this system is desi-
gned for the maritime environment and provides
up to 100 Mbps bandwidth at around 20 miles
from shore. This makes it ideal for use on a boat.

hotovoltaic panels are very efficient and useful,
but are not very attractive. To minimize the ae-
sthetic impact of solar panels on boat deckhouses,
the Italian manufacturer Solbian has created a ran-
ge of photovoltaic panels that look like carpets or
paintings. They range from uniformly grey panels to
the Marquina, which looks like a marble surface, and
the Maze, which resembles a modern painting with
a mosaic pattern. The effect is intriguing, because
the solar cells are only visible if you look closely at
the panel. Furthermore, these camouflaged panels
do not lose efficiency.

he Karver rope tightener is a sleeve inside which
you insert the textile stay for a flying sail furler or
a furling system that acts as a connection between
the latter and the drum. It is very easy to use: inside
the sleeve there are three small pistons which press
on the textile at three different points, forcing it to
run in a coil. The manufacturer is Karver.
