While proceeding aft, we find out that all the lines co-
ming from the mast disappear under a cowling and
reappear further aft, at companionway height, in front
of the cam cleats, which serve the coachroof winches.
In front of the companionway, the recess made to con
-
tain the closed sprayhood is very nice in our opinion.
And then we reach the cockpit.
Here the first thing we notice is the helmsman's seat,
which is quite big as we said earlier. The side seat, at
the same level as the aft one, makes the helmsman's
corner a convenient and comfortable place, which
will certainly become an object of contention among
guests when the boat is at anchor.
The benches are long, but not so deep as in the larger
models. Between the two benches, there is a small
table with two opening wings and stowage space in
the centre. The map navigator screen is housed in
the aft side of the table. The twin wheelhouse is ae
-
sthetically quite attractive. Instead of the fibreglass
blocks, an integral part of the deck mould that sup-
ported the wheels in some previous models, here we
find two nice black aluminium steering pedestals.
Above the pedestals, two consoles ready to accom-
modate several instruments, the compass and in
front of these, a convenient handrail.
Behind the wheels, the big seat conceals the aft
galley, one of the Dufour's distinctive strong points.
Above, the stern
of the Dufour 390.
Under the step lea-
ding to the platform
we can see the
self-inflating liferaft,
while in the centre
of the platform there
is a storage com-
partment. Aside, the
