catamarans the shipyard is looking especially at
the burgeoning Asian market.
The two catamarans are big, really big. If they
were monohulls they would be super yachts, and
in multihull format become they so huge that the
name mega catamaran comes to mind.
The first two mega catamarans to be introduced
are a 35 metre/116 ft sailing cat and a 36 metre/119
ft power cat, both models designed by Oliver
Racoupeau's firm.
Large catamarans are a great choice for customers
who dislike the rock and roll of monohulls. A cata
-
maran this size is basically a floating island, and
will remain very stable in anything other than the
most extreme conditions
To get an idea of the size of these yachts, consi
-
der that in the 116-footer,the dinette is 67 sqm
the owner's stateroom is 32, twice the size of a
double bedroom in an apartment. In addition to the
owner's stateroom, both models are equipped with
four guest cabins and accomodation for the crew.
To help move these giants, there is 10,000 litre fuel
tank.
