son Fritz Conijn. One of his first innovations, in 1972,
was issuing a Lloyd's Register certificate for for each
new boat leaving the shipyard. At the time, this was
a novelty for this market segment, reassuring buyers
in regards to the quality of the products.
At present the yard is run by the third generation, with
grandson Arjen Conijn in command. Arjen applies the
same winning quality principles that were adopted
by his grandfather at the start and then maintai
-
ned by his father, while engineering them towards
the future. Despite the considerable evolution over
time, the Conyplex-Contest shipyard has always
been located in Medemblik, Holland, on the edge of
the IJsselmeer, 60 kilometres north of Amsterdam.
Global production has exceeded 3,500 units to date.
