A
fter several years of honourable service, the Du-
four 630, the dream of many yachtsman, is going
into retirement. She will be replaced by the Dufour
61, a major reinterpretation of the 630.
In the new 61, also designed by Felci, the hull and
a good portion of the coachroof are going to be the
same as in the 630. The differences are found in the
final portion of the coachroof, featuring a more inno
-
vative design, and in the access to the cockpit from
the side deck. Here, as we had already seen on the
530, at the end of the benches and before the stee-
ring pedestal there is a very large step that makes it
much easier to climb on the side deck.
Once again the cockpit features an island that splits
the taffrail in half and may be used as a large sun
-
deck or, if desired, be transformed into two oppo-
sing sofas with a central table for dining comfortably
in the cockpit.
The owner's stateroom has been moved from the
rear to a forward position, while the galley remains
in the centre of the boat, between the stateroom and
the dinette, although there are two other available la
-
youts with the C-shaped galley on the port side and
a third layout with the galley in the corridor between
the cockpit and the hull.
