Piet is the designer who carried out, from 1981 to 1983, the research project for Australian Challen - ge for the America's Cup, which culminated with the development of the famous "winged keel" that favoured the victory at America's Cup in 1983 with the 12-metre yacht "Australia II". In the following years, the shipyard shifted its focus from strictly series production to semi-custom, 40-65 foot yachts, while prioritizing innovation and quality as usual. The epoch-making turning point saw the light with the third generation of the family, when in 2003 Arjen Conijn firmly took the helm of the Contest in his own hands. With his definite renewal of the shipyard's entire range, Arjen has decided to focus innovative efforts on performance and design.
